Gila Goldstein, Pianist in Concert

Acclaimed concert pianist Gila Goldstein performs a solo recital in the spirit of celebrating important life and career anniversaries at the New York Piano Academy. She will be performing a selection of piano gems which reflect her life-long dedication to the art of piano playing, including the Chaconne by Bach-Busoni, 8 Klavierstücke op. 76 by Brahms, miniatures by Schubert-Liszt, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Chopin, Poulenc, Mompou, De Falla, and the World Premiere of Ronn Yedidia’s Waltz no. 16.

About the Artist

Pianist Gila Goldstein who is known as a versatile musician has captivated audiences around the world with her unique artistry and soulful interpretations. Based in New York City in the past 27 years and has been sharing her life between Boston and New York since 2010, she serves on the piano faculty at Boston University School of Music and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. This coming September Gila will also join the piano faculty at the New York University Steinhardt School’s Department of Music and Performing Arts.

Gila Goldstein has performed as a solo artist and a collaborative pianist throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Asia, Europe and Israel. Her most notable performances included the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquesta Da Camera in Mexico City and the Lincoln Symphony in Nebraska, as well as recitals and concerts at Lincoln Center and Merkin Hall in New York City, Progetto Martha Argerich in Lugano, Beijing Concert Hall, China, the Purcell Room at the South Bank Center in London, Konzerthaus in Berlin, Musée de Louvre and Cité des Arts in Paris, Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Old First Church and Temple Emanu-El in San Francisco, Gardner Museum in Boston, Dame Myra Hess concert series, Ravinia’s “Rising Stars” Series and Symphony Hall in Chicago, ”Great Performances“ series in St. Louis, Henry Crown Hall in Jerusalem and the Tel Aviv Museum, among others.

A Board member of the American Liszt Society (ALS) and the Founder-President of its NY/NJ Chapter since 1992, she has been a frequent guest performer at the ALS annual festivals in the USA and Canada.

A champion of the music of Israel’s leading composer Paul Ben-Haim for nearly two decades as a performer and recording artist, Gila has recorded two volumes of his entire piano and chamber works on the Centaur label. The recordings have received rave reviews worldwide.

Gila Goldstein holds her music degrees in piano performance from the Manhattan School of Music where she studied with Prof. Nina Svetlanova and the Tel-Aviv University’s Samuel Rubin Academy of Music (currently Buchman-Mehta School of Music) where her teacher was Prof. Victor Derevianko.

Upcoming performances this summer and next season include recitals in Korea, Kansas, Boston, Los Angeles and Miami, as well as her debut with the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion in September 2015.
